The principal investigator, Dr. Roger Canals, has opened the exhibition "Les estatues també moren?" (Do statues also die?), at the Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món, Barcelona.
Taking advantage of the 70th anniversary of the film "Les statues meurent aussi," co-directed by Chris Marker and Alain Resnais in 1953, this exhibition aims to update the debate opened at that time by the documentary and to offer a critical reflection on art, museums, and their influence on culture and society. The film constructs an exploration between museums, colonialism, art, and cultural identity. It delves into the history of the so-called African art.
