At the beginning of 2013, Montsec and its sky were certified as a Starlight Reserve and as a Starlight Tourist Destination by the Starlight Foundation.
The Joan Oró Telescope (TJO) is a robotic telescope located at the Montsec Observatory (OdM), Montsec, Catalonia, Spain. It is the largest telescope in Catalonia (0.8-meter in diameter). It is located inside a 6.15-meter dome and is equipped with two scientific instruments: An imaging camera with photometric filters (LAIA) and a medium resolution spectrograph (ARES).
Montsec and its sky is one of the best places in the world to do astronomical observation and to enjoy the light of the stars %60- %70 of the year.
However, when the weather is cloudy, the TJO cannot operate.
This film is about how the life on and around Montsec Observatory takes shape when the weather is cloudy. It proposes an experimental narrative unfolding as a conversation, interaction and co-habitation between nature, technology and the scientists/technicians working in the observatory.
The video here, as an on-going research piece, is a glimpse of the final film which is still in post-production.
The film is directed by the postdoctoral researcher Alkim Erol and the principal investigator Roger Canals.
